Rising Fencing Star Nayla Martin to Represent Antigua and Barbuda on the International Stage

Antigua and Barbuda’s sporting community has another young talent to celebrate as rising fencing athlete Nayla Martin prepares to represent the twin-island nation in international competition beginning with the upcoming fencing season.
Martin, who has steadily built an impressive reputation on the European fencing circuit, will now proudly compete under the Antigua and Barbuda flag, marking an exciting milestone in her young career.
The announcement comes after a remarkable season in which Martin delivered a string of outstanding performances. She captured first place at the Internationales Ditzinger Young Masters, earned another gold medal in St. Gallen, and secured a third-place finish in Zurich, establishing herself as one of the promising young talents to watch.
Representing Antigua and Barbuda is a moment Martin describes as both an honor and a dream come true.
“I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity and excited to represent Antigua and Barbuda on the international stage. I’m looking forward to the experiences ahead, continuing to learn, improve, and proudly carry our flag wherever I compete.”
Martin also expressed heartfelt appreciation to everyone who played a role in making the transition possible, thanking her coaches, teammates, family, and supporters for believing in her journey and helping her reach this important milestone.
Nayla is the daughter of Zamoni Martin, one of Antigua and Barbuda’s well-known soca stars. While she has grown up around music and entertainment, she is now carving out her own legacy in sport, proudly representing Antigua and Barbuda in the world of international fencing.
With a successful season now behind her, Martin is focused on the challenges ahead and is eager to continue developing her skills against some of the world’s best young fencers.
As Antigua and Barbuda continues to expand its presence in international sport, Nayla Martin’s journey represents another inspiring example of a young athlete pursuing excellence while proudly flying the nation’s flag abroad.
Her upcoming international campaign is expected to attract growing support from Antiguans at home and across the diaspora, who will be cheering her on as she embarks on this exciting new chapter representing Antigua and Barbuda.
