Deputy Director of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Morvin Fiedtkou, reports a significant rise in call volumes over the past year. Despite the challenges, he commended his team’s adaptability and performance.
Fiedtkou attributes the surge partly to increased public awareness of EMS services, with many viewing ambulances as a quick solution for medical issues. While this awareness is positive, it strains resources, as emergency services must prioritize critical cases under triage protocols, leading to delays for less urgent calls.
Addressing concerns about expanding the ambulance fleet, Fiedtkou noted that demand tends to outpace available resources, regardless of fleet size.
