Darwin Telemaque, Manager of the Antigua Barbuda Port Authority, emphasized at a Caribbean Development Bank seminar in Ottawa that regional cooperation is crucial for addressing port challenges.

He stressed that individual efforts are insufficient due to shared risks and called for a unified strategy to improve logistics and trade efficiency.

Telemaque, also Chairman of the Port Management Association of the Caribbean, highlighted the burden on ports from trade policies, advocating for a clear distinction between trade policy and port operations.

He pointed out the limited inter-regional trade and argued that port inefficiencies, not just fewer ships, contribute to high costs and deter more ships from docking.
