Randy Baltimore Secures Broad Support Following Landslide Victory in ABLP Primary for St. Phillips North

Randy Baltimore’s resounding victory in the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) primary for St. Phillips North has not only marked a significant milestone in his political career but also demonstrated his ability to unite the party.

Securing two-thirds of the total votes, Baltimore’s win has been widely acknowledged, including by the candidates he defeated, who have now pledged their support to him.

Baltimore emphasized the importance of unity in his victory speech. “The main thing right now is to gather all the support going forward so that we can be united as one,” he stated.

This commitment to unity was evidenced by the swift endorsements from his former rivals.

Dr. Oswald Thomas, who ran against Baltimore in the primary, was among the first to extend his support.

“Dr. Thomas and I were on a show together this morning, and we’ve exchanged contacts. We are discussing plans going forward, and he has pledged his support,” Baltimore shared.

Robin Jr., another contender, has also committed to backing Baltimore.

“I spoke with Robin Yearwood Jr. yesterday, and he has pledged his support as well,” Baltimore confirmed. Additionally, he reached out to Telly Cornelius, who finished second in the primary.

“Telly messaged me and has pledged his full support. Despite securing the second-largest amount of votes, he recognizes the significance of my victory and stands with me.”

Prime Minister Gaston Browne praised Baltimore’s performance and the unity within the party.

“Randy got two-thirds of all the votes combined. His performance was excellent, and they have all accepted that he’s the people’s choice,” Browne remarked.

He highlighted that even the closest competitors, including Telly Cornelius, have acknowledged Baltimore’s decisive win and are committed to supporting him.

His plans include a focus on youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and community development. He has already seen progress in infrastructural improvements within the constituency, thanks to collaborative efforts with Prime Minister Browne and Minister of Works, Maria Browne.

Baltimore’s approach remains rooted in the advice he has received: to listen to the people.

“The people are the ones who put you there, and the people can take you out. Serve the people, listen to them, and do your best to ensure they have a happy life and well-being,” he emphasized.
