Public Appeal Launched to Help Beloved Sports Figure Fight Cancer

Community launches appeal to help Bolans resident access overseas cancer treatment
A community fundraising appeal has been launched to help 43-year-old Bolans resident Judy Thomas-Ward access urgent overseas cancer treatment.
Thomas-Ward, a long-serving public servant with the Ministry of Labour, has been referred to Colombia for specialized care. The cost of treatment, travel and accommodation is estimated at US$85,000, with organizers seeking to raise an immediate US$40,000 to cover medical expenses for her initial four-month stay.
Widely known for her contributions to national sports, Thomas-Ward is a former youth and senior national footballer, a referee, a softball player and an executive member of the Football Referees Association. She is also a mother of five.
Supporters say the treatment offers a critical opportunity to improve her health and allow her to continue caring for her family and serving her community.
Donations can be made by cheque payable to NPMT Community League. Further information is available at 780-4816, 780-8099, 780-0929 or 771-4727.
Organisers are appealing to the public, businesses and members of the diaspora for assistance, saying every contribution brings Thomas-Ward closer to the care she urgently needs.
