Police Launch Public Awareness Campaign Ahead of CHOGM Security Lockdown Exercise

Officers from the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda have begun informing residents and business owners about next week’s Hard Lockdown Security Exercise, part of the country’s preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Police said officers have been meeting with members of the public and the business community to explain what to expect during the exercise, including temporary road closures, restricted access to designated security zones and traffic diversions.

The force said the outreach is intended to help residents and businesses prepare in advance and reduce disruption during the exercise. Officers also responded to questions from the public during the awareness campaign.

The Hard Lockdown Security Exercise is scheduled for next Friday and is designed to test Antigua and Barbuda’s security and emergency response capabilities ahead of CHOGM 2026.

Police thanked residents and business owners for their cooperation and support during the public awareness campaign and encouraged the public to remain informed and plan ahead for the exercise.
