POLICE ISSUE CAUTION TO VEHICLE OWNERS

St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda — Wednesday, May 14, 2025

The Police Administration is concerned about the increasing number of vehicle thefts reported in recent times.

This criminal act not only threatens public safety but also highlights the importance of motorists adopting safer security practices.

Investigations have also revealed that in several instances, vehicles were left unattended with engines running, a practice that the police continuously discourage among drivers.

Motorists are therefore urged to take the following precautions to further minimize the risk of vehicle theft:

Ensure that you switch off your engine and remove the keys from the ignition when exiting your vehicle.

Ensure all doors and windows are securely locked.

Avoid leaving valuable items inside your vehicle in plain view of the public.

Always park in secure and well-lit areas.

The police remain committed to investigating these incidents and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Anyone with information that can assist the police in their investigations is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or 462-3914, or call the anonymous Crimestoppers hotline at 800-TIPS (8477).
All information will be treated confidentially.
