PM Browne Moves to Sue Croif Emmanuel, Joan and Crusader Radio for Defamation

Browne Seeks $2.5M in Defamation Settlement After Meeting with Attorney
Prime Minister Gaston Browne says he has formally instructed attorney Warren Cassel to initiate defamation proceedings against several political opponents and a media outlet, seeking a $2.5 million settlement.
In a statement posted on social media after meeting with Cassel at his office, Browne said the visit “was more than a courtesy call” and confirmed he had given “formal instructions to act on my behalf and Lady Maria Browne to sue the UPP vagabonds; Croif Emmanuel, Joan and Crusader (Progressive) Radio for defamation.”
“I have requested a settlement of $2.5M,” Browne wrote.
The Prime Minister did not specify the statements at issue but indicated the legal action would target individuals associated with the opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) and the radio station.
In the same post, Browne added, “Don’t violate the Rasta Dreadman – Seen!!”
The announcement comes amid heightened political tensions, with public exchanges between government officials and opposition figures increasingly playing out across social media and radio platforms.
There was no immediate response from the individuals or entities named in Browne’s statement.
