Prime Minister Gaston Browne has condemned misinformation surrounding the death of nine-year-old Chantel Crump, calling it a threat to national trust and democracy.

Speaking on the Browne and Browne Show, Browne addressed a claim made on the JTruth Show, where a female caller suggested his daughter may have benefitted from organs taken from Crump. He accused the United Progressive Party (UPP) and its supporters of spreading such falsehoods through media channels, warning that misinformation could severely harm the country.

Browne stressed the need to restore trust in society, asserting that false claims could undermine democracy. “If a young lady believes the Prime Minister could authorize the killing of a child for organ harvesting, then we have a serious problem,” Browne said.

The police have also responded, urging individuals to cease spreading false information. They dismissed claims circulating on social media that Crump’s body had been mutilated, confirming that these allegations were unfounded.

Chantel Crump was found deceased in Weatherhills last week.
