Pilgrim Reassigned as Permanent Secretary in Late Public Service Shuffle

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Clarence Pilgrim, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Creative Industries in what sources describe as a sudden change within the public service.
The move appears to have been a last-minute adjustment to a wider reshuffle of senior public officers.
Sharon Stevens, who previously served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Creative Industries, has now been appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Meanwhile, Ena Dalso will remain as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, according to sources familiar with the changes.
The decision follows public sentiment that Dalso should continue in the role after what many residents have described as strong performance within the ministry.
The adjustment has prompted quiet discussion in administrative and political circles, with observers watching to see whether further changes in the public service may follow.
Director General of Communications in the Office of the Prime Minister, Maurice Merchant, said the assignment of Permanent Secretaries falls under the authority of the Public Service Commission.
He noted that the Commission has the discretion to deploy senior public officers according to the needs of the public service.
