Two Candidates Confirmed for St. Philip’s North By-Election as Nominations Close
The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission has confirmed that two candidates have been duly nominated to contest the March 16 by-election in St. Philip’s North, following the close of nominations on Wednesday.
According to the official Statement of Persons Nominated issued under the Representation of the People Act, Alex Howard Browne, a hotelier of Picadilly, will contest the seat on behalf of the United Progressive Party (UPP).
Browne was nominated by Arlene B. Thomas (née Browne) and seconded by Ainsworth Samuel D. Grant, with eight registered electors listed as assentors in the official return.
Also nominated is Randy St. Clair Baltimore, a customs officer of Willikies Village, representing the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP).
Baltimore was proposed by Fitzgerald Oliver Lewis and seconded by Lydia Marilyn Philip (née Greenaway), with eight assentors similarly recorded in the Commission’s published statement.
The Electoral Commission’s notice confirms that both candidates “have been and stand nominated” for the by-election in the constituency of St. Philip North on February 25, 2026.
Polling day is set for March 16.
