MP Lewis Calls for the Restoration of Knuckle Block Complex
After years of delay, the Government has finally announced the completion of repairs to the Magistrates’ Court on High Street, with the handing-over to take place on Friday 28 June.
As the people of the St. John’s Rural West Constituency await the return of the Knuckle Block facility, MP Richard Lewis is calling on the Government to put plans in place to have the facility restored to a usable state.
The Knuckle Block Centre has suffered significant wear and tear over the almost five years of occupation by the Magistrates’ Court. There are several areas where the roof leaks badly, mold has developed in multiple places, and several windows are broken.
“Over the past almost 5 years the Knuckle Block Centre should have been a vital hub for our community, offering a place for gatherings, education, and recreation. It’s current run-down state is a cause for major concern and requires immediate attention,” Lewis observes. “After betraying our people’s trust by occupying the facility 3 years longer than promised, it is only right for the building to be quickly restored to its previous condition, and made fully ready for use by the community.”
Lewis is also calling on community authorities, businesses, and members to rally together to support the full restoration of the facility.
“While the Government has the primary responsibility to address the major repairs, we need a collaborative effort to bring the Knuckle Block Centre back to its former glory. This is not just a building; it’s a symbol of our community’s strength and unity. Together, we can restore the Knuckle Block Centre and ensure it serves the community for generations to come,” Lewis concludes.
