Mejia Murder Case Committed to May Assizes as Evidence List Filed

The case against Angela Mejia, who is accused of killing nine-year-old Chantel Crump, has been sent to the May Assizes following the submission of the prosecution’s exhibit list in the St. John’s Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Prosecutors presented an updated list of at least 28 items, including two CD-ROMs—one said to contain roughly 40 crime scene photographs and another with more than 150 autopsy images. The evidence also includes a pathology report and a flash drive described as holding forensic material linked to Chantel Crump.
Among the physical exhibits are items of clothing recovered from the scene, including a Five Islands Primary School uniform, pink and white underwear, black school shoes and a white vest. Investigators also listed two KFC bags and cups, along with a flashlight.
A trial date before a judge and jury is expected to be set when the matter comes before the High Court during the May Assizes.
