Magnitude 4.2 Earthquake Recorded East of Antigua and Barbuda

A preliminary magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck east of Antigua and Barbuda early Friday morning, according to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI SRC).
The automatic report indicates the earthquake occurred at 7:19 a.m. local time on June 26 at a depth of 10 kilometres.
The epicentre was located at 16.65°N, 59.30°W, approximately 287 kilometres east-southeast of St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda. It was also located 252 kilometres east-northeast of Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, and 276 kilometres northeast of Roseau, Dominica.
The UWI SRC noted that the location is preliminary and was automatically calculated by computer algorithms. The information remains subject to revision pending evaluation by the Centre’s analysts.
