LISTEN: PM Browne announces major plans for Perry Bay

Perry Bay Targeted for Housing Expansion as Government Eyes Road Shift
Prime Minister Gaston Browne says the government is planning a reconfiguration of infrastructure in the Perry Bay area to unlock land for future housing development.
Speaking at a political rally in St John’s Rural West on Thursday night, Browne outlined plans that include relocating an existing roadway in Perry Bay to make additional lands available for residential use.
The proposed changes form part of a broader strategy to expand access to land and housing, particularly as demand for residential development continues to grow.
According to the Prime Minister, the adjustment of the road network is intended to open up more usable space for housing, allowing for more structured development in the area.
The Perry Bay initiative was presented alongside other development priorities, as Browne pointed to infrastructure and land access as key components of the government’s agenda.
The planned expansion is expected to contribute to ongoing efforts to increase housing availability and support community growth, though no timeline or detailed layout for the road relocation was disclosed during the address.
Browne has repeatedly linked housing development to wider economic policy, positioning land access and infrastructure upgrades as central to improving living standards and creating new opportunities for citizens.
The announcement comes as Antigua and Barbuda prepares for a general election later this month, with development and housing among the major issues highlighted on the campaign trail.
