LISTEN: More UPP Defactors are to join the ABLP, Leader Reveals

Browne Says Some UPP Members in Antigua and Barbuda Preparing to Join Labour Party
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has claimed that internal divisions within the opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) are prompting some of its members to consider joining the governing Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP).
Speaking during his weekly appearance on the Browne and Browne show on Pointe FM, Browne said several individuals associated with the UPP have indicated they plan to align themselves with the Labour Party in the near future.
He said some of those individuals include former party executives and branch-level members who, according to him, have expressed concerns about the viability of the opposition party in its current form.
Browne also suggested that dissatisfaction within the opposition is contributing to the potential shift, adding that some members believe the party may need to rebuild its political brand.
He did not identify the individuals he claimed were preparing to leave the UPP.
The prime minister said the Labour Party remains open to welcoming supporters from across the political spectrum, adding that broader unity could benefit the country.
The United Progressive Party is the main opposition party in Antigua and Barbuda.
