We mourn the passing of a grassroots politician and community advocate, Hilson “Brother B” Baptiste.

He served the people of St. Mary’s South diligently as their MP from 1994 to 2004.

During his tenure as a Minister in the Baldwin Spencer Administration, he was one of the more socially relatable, compassionate and honest politicians.

Brother B was the epitome of country and people before self. He believed strongly in the empowerment of the more vulnerable in our society.

His social work began long before he entered the field of politics and so it was natural for him to lend a helping hand to those in need. Wherever he went, he created a social buzz and you couldn’t help but love him.

Brother B lived a good life and served his country well. We need more politicians like Hilson Baptiste today.

Condolences to his family and friends. May the soul of Hilson “Brother B” Baptiste Rest In Peace and Rise In Glory.
