Richard Lewis, a United Progressive Party (UPP) MP, denies rumors of negotiating with the government for an ambassadorial role, asserting he has not engaged with any Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) members.

Despite this, speculation persists about his dissatisfaction with the UPP and friction with party leadership following a recent convention.

An ABLP representative mentioned they have a strong candidate for Rural West, potentially leaving no room for Lewis. Lewis firmly stated, “I am not negotiating with anyone. I am not interested in running on an ABLP ticket.”

Some believe Lewis’s denial is to maintain his position within the UPP, similar to former colleague Anthony Smith.
