I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the safety practices observed during funeral processions in Antigua. It has become increasingly alarming to witness police buses carrying passengers squeezing between vehicles on the road, honking excessively, as if they are racing to a destination. Funerals are solemn occasions, and rushing through traffic not only disrupts the peaceful atmosphere but also poses a serious safety risk to all road users.
The police motorcade, often with motorcycles leading the way, frequently speeds between cars, creating a chaotic and potentially dangerous situation. This behavior seems to prioritize speed over safety, which is unacceptable, especially during a time of mourning.
I urge the authorities to address this issue and implement stricter guidelines for funeral processions. The safety of everyone on the road should be paramount, and a more respectful and considerate approach is necessary.
Sincerely,
G.Y.
