Hey, UPP, who’s minding the store?

The Chairman has dropped everything and gone on a pilgrimage to Ghana to bond with her ancestors. The past political leader is away lecturing to meet his needs. And the incumbent is somewhere about minding his own personal business.

So the question is asked again, who’s minding the UPP store?

It does not appear that the Deputy Leader is interested in party matters, so he is not raising his head, especially knowing that he really does not know much about the UPP, and also there is a cloud over his star that does not make it shine nationally. Many also have a sneaky suspicion that he is amenable to crawling over the fence.

So the job seems to be left to the other three MPs. Lewis is no revolutionary and does not seem to be interested in striking a blow for ascendancy to the throne. At least, not yet. Serpent seems to be slithering his way out of a hole that even with a mike and a voice he cannot keep harmonious and habitable; and Shugy is fighting a David and Goliath battle that has no army standing by to raise his hand in triumph.

So if not them, then who is minding the UPP store?

Can’t be Zizzy. He is heaping brimstone and fire on the ALP, mainly Gaston Browne’s head, on Progressive radio every morning. He has the facts and he is expounding these, but words sometimes fail him to deliver the knockout punch. And he has other problems. He seems to be mortally afraid to confront his party, especially his chairman, with the things he knows are going wrong in the ranks. More bruising, Progressive has a very minimal listenership and reaches perhaps 10 per cent of the population. This is a problem the UPP failed to fix with 10 years in power.

So much of his investigative hard work seems to be falling like rain water into the sea. Besides, his time on radio at 8am is not the best for the listening public. He tries with his stint at Observer in the Snake Pit, but Observer listeners only want a snake in a snake pit, and listeners wander away when only he and Spence are holding down the fort.

This time slot also discounts the new producer ‘Juicy Joan’ who should have stayed around at Observer a bit longer to learn a thing or two more before taking up the role of major early morning mouth piece.

So once again, who is minding the UPP store?

But it can’t be Knight at Night?

He has sworn to be the nemesis of the UPP until there is change in its leadership. He is a fervent opponent of Gaston Browne who he calls the Brown Darg, but he is unhappy with the UPP and slashes them with barb wire words every time he speaks into a microphone.

Long story short, he wants the UPP to  do good. He thinks the Brown Darg is destroying his beloved country and must be replaced.

So to answer the question, who is minding the UPP store?
