John Michael Isaac jailed for sexually assaulting intoxicated woman he was meant to drive home

John Michael Isaac has been sentenced to two years in prison for sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman he had agreed to drive home after a fete in 2022.
A jury convicted Isaac in December 2025 on two counts of serious indecency. Prosecutors said that after dropping off other passengers, he stopped behind a bank and engaged in sexual activity with the woman without her consent. Serious indecency does not include intercourse.
In sentencing, the court considered the woman’s intoxication, the prevalence of similar offences and a lack of remorse, along with a victim impact statement describing ongoing emotional trauma. The defence sought a fine, citing character references and a difficult upbringing.
The judge said the sentence was meant to send a clear message that such opportunistic offending would be treated seriously. Isaac received two years on each count, to run concurrently, with 48 days on remand credited.
