Dear Leadership of the United Progressive Party,

I am writing to formally withdraw from the UPP Primary for St. John’s Rural South. This decision comes after much reflection and disappointment in the process and the current state of the party’s leadership.

A party that takes over ten months to process membership applications is not ready for prime time. In an era of advanced technology and instant communication, the UPP remains mired in poor communication, petty jealousy, power struggles for no power, disorganization, and a lack of strategic vision.

These shortcomings not only hinder candidates but also undermine the party’s ability to connect with the electorate effectively.

At this critical moment, the UPP needs leadership that is nimble, visionary, and deeply attuned to the needs of the people.

The party must embrace bold changes to bridge generational and socioeconomic divides and foster trust within its ranks and across Antigua and Barbuda.

Without this transformation, it risks losing its relevance and the confidence of the people.

While I am stepping back from this process, I remain hopeful that the UPP can rise to meet the challenges of this era and become a true force for progress.”

Sincerely,

Jermaine N. Edwards
