A Jamaican national has been cleared of another serious charge after prosecutors withdrew an aggravated robbery case against him on Monday.

Methoni Vernon, who was acquitted of capital murder in February 2025 due to extradition irregularities, was formally discharged by Justice Tunde Bakre in the High Court.

The charges stemmed from the 2014 murder of farmer Roy Carradice, who was shot multiple times during a robbery near Cassada Gardens Racetrack. Vernon was extradited from Dominica in 2016, but questions arose over the timing and legality of his initial charging.

His lawyer, Andrew O’Kola, successfully challenged the case on procedural grounds.
