Tourism Minister Charles “Max” Fernandez says more than 500 full-time jobs will be created as several major hotel developments come on stream, signaling strong investor confidence and continued expansion in Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism sector. He said an additional 300 construction jobs are being generated as the projects advance.

During the Budget Debate, Fernandez outlined three key accommodation projects now under construction or scheduled to open in 2026, noting that the country’s growing visitor demand requires significant increases in room stock.

Among the new properties, he said Nikki Beach is currently under construction, adding to the island’s luxury inventory. He also confirmed that Moon Gate is set to open in 2026, contributing new capacity to the high-end boutique market.

The minister highlighted the Marriott Hotel in Yepton’s as another major development underway. He told MPs that construction has already begun and invited members of the Opposition to tour the site themselves. “The Marriott Hotel… will significantly increase our room stock on island to match the demand of visitors,” he said.

Fernandez said the combination of these projects demonstrates continued private-sector confidence in Antigua and Barbuda as a tourism destination. He noted that hotel expansion remains central to sustaining growth in stayover arrivals, especially as airlift increases from the United States, UK, Germany, Italy and other key markets.

He said the government’s job is to ensure that infrastructure, airport readiness, and marketing strategies keep pace with investment trends. With more rooms and more employment opportunities coming online, he added, Antigua and Barbuda is positioned to maintain its momentum heading into 2026.

“These investments are strengthening our visitor product and supporting our economy,” he said, describing the hotel pipeline as an important pillar of the sector’s long-term growth.
