A man accused of rape has been cleared by a unanimous High Court jury verdict, ending a case that arose from a 2022 complaint in All Saints.

The nine-member panel — eight women and one man — took less than two hours to reach its decision after several days of testimony.

The allegation centered on a December 2022 encounter between the accused and a then 19-year-old woman at his home. Prosecutors contended that sexual intercourse took place without consent, while the defence argued the interaction was voluntary.

Evidence presented included WhatsApp conversations between the two and testimony regarding $200 given to the woman after the encounter. She said the money related to a prior tour job; the defence maintained it had no improper significance.

The accused was represented by attorney Wendel Alexander. Curtis Cornelious appeared for the prosecution.
