United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate George Wehner has expressed gratitude and resilience following his defeat in the St. Peter by-election.

In a statement, Wehner thanked his supporters and campaign team for their efforts, describing the outcome as a symbolic victory for their collective determination.

“I wish to thank everyone who contributed to the campaign,” Wehner stated.

“The victory is ours as we did what many thought could not have been done.”

Wehner secured 570 votes, losing to Antigua Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) candidate Rawdon Turner, who garnered 1,674 votes.

Despite the loss, Wehner emphasized his ongoing commitment to St. Peter and the nation, pledging to remain a strong advocate for his community.

“My commitment to Antigua and Barbuda will never falter,” he said, adding, “This Phoenix will rise from the ashes. Together we aspire, and together we will rise.”

Wehner’s statement signals his intention to remain active in politics and advocacy, reflecting the UPP’s resolve to challenge the ABLP’s dominance in St. Peter and beyond.
