The St. Peter by-election, scheduled for January 14, 2025, is generating significant attention, with four individuals already expressing interest in contesting the seat.

The by-election follows the passing of long-serving MP Asot Michael, and Nomination Day, set for December 31, 2024, will officially confirm the candidates.

Rawdon Turner (Antigua Barbuda Labour Party – ABLP):
The ABLP has put forward Senator Rawdon Turner as its prospective candidate. Turner, currently the Deputy President of the Senate, is known for his leadership in housing development and has pledged to continue the party’s development agenda in St. Peter.

George Wehner (United Progressive Party – UPP):
The UPP’s Mobilization Officer, George Wehner, has signaled his intent to run. A seasoned political figure, Wehner is expected to focus on addressing accountability and the needs of constituents in his campaign.

Nigel Bascus (Missing Link Voice of the People):
Nigel Bascus has announced his interest in contesting under the banner of Missing Link Voice of the People. Bascus, no stranger to political contests, highlights youth advocacy as a key pillar of his platform and plans to release his manifesto shortly.

Owen “Go Green” George (GO Green Party):

While these four individuals have expressed interest, the official slate of candidates will be confirmed on Nomination Day, December 31, 2024. There is also the possibility of independent candidates joining the race, which could further diversify the contest

The St. Peter constituency has long been a political stronghold, and this by-election is poised to be a critical contest.
