The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic, but forecasters say significant development is unlikely.

As of 8 a.m. Friday, a broad area of low pressure was about 175 miles southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands. The system was producing limited and disorganized showers and thunderstorms while moving west-northwest at 10 to 15 mph.

The hurricane center said environmental conditions are expected to become increasingly unfavorable for development.

The system has a 10% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within both the next 48 hours and the next seven days.

Forecasters are also monitoring another disturbance in the northeastern Gulf of America, which has a low chance of development.
