Fisheries Division to Host Safety at Sea Training for Fishers

The Fisheries Division will host a Safety at Sea training session for fishers on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, as part of its Fisher Professional Development Training Programme.
The session will run from 10 a.m. to noon in the meeting room at the Point Wharf Fisheries Complex on Lower North Street.
According to a notice issued by Chief Fisheries Officer Ian Horsford, the course forms part of the licensing requirements for local fishers and is also a key requirement for trainee fishers seeking to upgrade to professional fisher status.
The training is primarily aimed at newly registered fishers and experienced fishers who have not yet completed the course. However, the Fisheries Division says all fishers are welcome to attend, subject to available space.
Interested participants can reserve a place by calling 462-1372 and should have their Fisher ID available when registering.
