Colin Jean-Pierre Jailed for Stealing Paint Buckets and Power Tools in Two Burglaries

Man Sentenced to 14 Months in Prison for Two Burglaries
A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to more than a year in prison after admitting to a pair of break-ins that netted thousands of dollars in stolen property.
Colin Jean-Pierre of Bart Lodge was sentenced Friday by Chief Magistrate Naeem Manuel to two consecutive seven-month prison terms, meaning he will spend approximately 14 months behind bars.
The court heard that Jean-Pierre broke into two separate homes last week, stealing items valued at more than EC$14,000. Prosecutors said he cooperated with investigators and made early admissions, accepting full responsibility for the offences.

Jean-Pierre was originally charged jointly with three other men, but charges against the co-accused were dropped after he admitted sole responsibility.
According to police, one of the break-ins occurred at a woman’s home in Hodges Bay, where seven buckets of paint valued at just over EC$7,000 were stolen. Later the same day, investigators say Jean-Pierre entered a man’s residence in Mount Pleasant, making off with power tools and other items valued at approximately EC$7,000.
Police said the stolen property was later recovered from a rental vehicle occupied by Jean-Pierre and the other men at the time of their arrest.
