CIBC Caribbean Donates $177,000 to Cancer Support Groups in Antigua

CIBC Caribbean has donated $177,000 to two organisations supporting cancer care in Antigua and Barbuda, following its annual “Walk for the Cure” fundraising campaign.
The funds were presented to the Breast Friends support group and the Oncology Department at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre during a ceremony at the Royalton Chic Hotel.
The amount represents a significant increase from the $105,000 raised in 2024, marking a new fundraising record for CIBC Caribbean’s Antigua team.
Then Head of Country Ladesa James Williams made the presentation to Breast Friends President Michelle Lynch and Salma Crump, Marketing Manager at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. Also attending the event were Walk Managers Jessica Ormond Byer and Natasha Charles.
Williams said the initiative has grown over the years beyond the flagship “Walk for the Cure” to include a range of fundraising activities such as Jam for the Cure, Raffle for the Cure, Gala for the Cure and Music for the Cure, all of which have attracted strong support from the corporate community and the public.
The proceeds were split evenly between the two beneficiaries.
Representatives from both organisations thanked CIBC Caribbean for its continued commitment to supporting cancer care and awareness efforts, noting the impact of the bank’s contributions in addressing one of the most serious health challenges facing the community.
CIBC Caribbean also expressed appreciation to donors and participants who supported the 2025 fundraising activities and said it looks forward to continued public support in 2026.
