Central Board of Health Announces Fogging Schedule for Mosquito Control on Antigua

Antigua and Barbuda, September 1, 2024 — The Central Board of Health has released its latest fogging schedule for the island of Antigua, aimed at combating the population of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the primary vector responsible for diseases such as dengue, Zika, and chikungunya. The fogging operations will be conducted by the Vector Control Unit from September 2nd to September 6th, 2024, with sessions scheduled at 4:30 AM and 4:30 PM daily.

The fogging will target different communities across the island throughout the week:

The Central Board of Health advises residents, particularly those with respiratory illnesses, to take necessary precautions during the fogging operations. Motorists traveling through the fogging zones are also urged to exercise caution to ensure their safety and that of the workers.

In the event of adverse weather conditions, such as rain or high winds, the fogging process will be suspended and rescheduled for the next available day until all designated areas are completed.

In addition to the scheduled fogging, residents are strongly encouraged to play an active role in mosquito control by eliminating potential breeding sites around their homes and taking personal protective measures against mosquito bites. This collective effort is crucial in reducing the spread of mosquito-borne diseases.
