Celebrating a Season of Second Chances – Grandma Mirie Gifts HMP Inmates
This Christmas, Grandma Mirie’s generosity shines beyond festive lights and decorations—reaching straight to the hearts of those often forgotten. In her new role as Chief Kindness Officer (CKO) at SamuelFields Consulting Group, she has wasted no time in embracing her mission, bringing warmth and hope to some inmates of His Majesty’s Prison.
But to Grandma Mirie, these inmates are more than just faces behind bars—they’re her former students. Earlier this year, through a confectionery-making course at the GARD Center, she taught them how to craft local treats like fudge, sugar cakes, and mango cheese. Each lesson, wrapped in the aroma of sugar and spice, became a masterclass in resilience and self-worth, proving that even the most difficult pasts can be reshaped into new beginnings.
As a special addition to her 12 Days of Christmas Kindness giveaway, Grandma Mirie returned with handmade treasures—jams, breads, and soaps—all lovingly crafted from her garden. For the inmates, her visit wasn’t just a holiday gesture; it was a powerful reminder that someone still sees their worth and believes in their future.
“They are my students,” she said with a tender smile. “Christmas is about sharing joy, and I wanted them to know they are remembered and valued.”
One inmate captured the moment perfectly: “Seeing Grandma Mirie again feels like hope wrapped in a brown paper bag.”
At the core of her actions lies Grandma Mirie’s G.I.F.T. philosophy—Give from the heart, Inspire through kindness, Flourish by using what you have, and bring people Together. Her story reminds us that kindness doesn’t follow a calendar. It is a continuous thread that weaves connection, redemption, and community in ways that transcend the holiday season.
