Carlonat Gerald Wins Caribbean Award for Vegan and Plant-Based Baking

Antiguan and Barbudan baker Carlonat Gerald has won the Best Vegan or Plant-Based Baker category at the 2026 Caribbean Baking Awards.
Gerald secured the regional honour while representing Antigua and Barbuda at the awards in Sint Maarten.
Her victory follows Gabrielle Thomas’ selection as Pastry Chef of the Year, giving Antigua and Barbuda at least two wins at this year’s awards.
Nine bakers and pastry professionals from the twin-island nation were nominated across several categories.
The Caribbean Baking Awards recognize bakers, pastry chefs, cake artists and culinary entrepreneurs from across the region. The awards are part of a festival promoting Caribbean baking, culinary tourism and youth development.
