A relief team from Calvin Air Helicopters departed Antigua on Tuesday morning, while airports in several Windward Islands remained closed due to Hurricane Beryl’s devastation.
Mark Fleming, CEO of Calvin Air Helicopters, confirmed the delivery of 200 cases of water and 1,000 meals to the Grenadine Islands.
The northern islands of Bequia and Mustique suffered damage, but the situation worsened further south.
Canouan was severely affected, and Mayreau, with only about 350 residents, appeared nearly wiped out.
Supplies were also delivered to Union Island, where they landed at a damaged airport, and to Petite Martinique, which lacks an airport but was still accessible.
Fleming credited World Central Kitchen, part of the José Andrés Charitable Foundation, for their support.
He also noted that long-standing partner GSD MV Dawn was en route, expected to arrive on Thursday.
Jamilla Kirwan, Media Relations Specialist for the Ayre Group and Calvin Air Foundation, emphasized the mission’s importance and the foundation’s role in covering emergency response costs.
