Baltimore Extends Early Lead as Third Box Counted in St. Philip North By-Election

Randy Baltimore of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has widened his early lead in the St. Philip North by-election after results from the third of seven ballot boxes were counted.

The latest box added 117 votes for Baltimore and 33 for United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate Alex Browne, strengthening the ABLP candidate’s advantage as the count progresses.

Earlier results from the first two boxes had already placed Baltimore ahead, with 143 votes to Browne’s 86 in the first box and 156 to 82 in the second.

With three of the seven boxes now counted, Baltimore has accumulated 416 votes, while Browne stands at 201 votes. Election officials are continuing the tally, with four boxes still to be counted.

The by-election was called following the retirement of longtime St. Philip North Member of Parliament Sir Robin Yearwood, ending a parliamentary career spanning roughly five decades.

Randy Baltimore of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP) has taken an early lead as ballots are counted in the St. Philip North by-election.

Preliminary results from the first two polling divisions show Baltimore securing 299 votes, representing 64.03 percent of ballots counted so far. United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate Alex Browne has received 168 votes, or 35.97 percent.

The early figures place Baltimore ahead as the vote tabulation continues across the 5 remaining polling stations in the constituency. Officials began counting shortly after polls closed following a day of generally calm voting that election authorities described as slow at times but steady throughout the day.

The by-election was triggered by the retirement of longtime St. Philip North representative Sir Robin Yearwood, who stepped down earlier this year after a parliamentary career spanning five decades.

Election officials are continuing the count, with additional results expected as ballots from the remaining polling divisions are processed.
