Award-Winning UK Entrepreneur Launches a Unique Luxury Lifestyle Magazine in Antigua and Barbuda

Born in the UK, with parents and family from across Antigua, Michelle, the founder and creative director of KQ-Empire Magazine, published the first issue of KQ-Empire Magazine (www.kq-empire.com) in the UK back in 2021.

With a career spanning three decades in creative direction, luxury sales, concierge services, and consultancy for luxury fashion brands, Michelle has established KQ-Empire as no ordinary magazine. UK industry professionals have compared it to prestigious titles such as Vogue, Essence, and Net-a-Porter, highlighting its exceptional publishing quality and creative direction.

KQ-Empire Magazine is available in digital format, with limited-edition glossy print copies distributed across some of the finest five-star hotels, personal shopping lounges, and corporate office spaces in the UK.

As the only storytelling magazine that intertwines inspirational stories of women from around the world with authentic, heartfelt communication, KQ-Empire resonates deeply with its readers. It also places a strong emphasis on luxury fashion, emerging designers, fine jewellery, luxury property, well-being, and the automotive industry.

Now in its fifth year and with ten issues published, the magazine continues to grow in strength, attracting the attention of global luxury fashion brands and publishing houses associated with some of the world’s most renowned magazine titles.

KQ-Empire also boasts an in-house creative agency, responsible for designing innovative campaigns for luxury brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, and Tiffany & Co.

Currently, Michelle is back on the island, developing the Antigua arm of the KQ brand. She shares, “It was just a matter of time before I opened the doors locally. I just needed to build the brand to a certain level in the UK first—then truly bring it home.”

KQ-Empire is now offering advertising opportunities to businesses across Antigua and the wider region. With a newly introduced Caribbean rate card, it is looking forward to raising local businesses’ visuals to an international standard.

KQ-Empire has recruited teams of established local creatives as well as provides work experience training to young people wishing to gain an understanding and insight into the creative process of fashion and lifestyle magazines. Michelle says, “I think it’s very important to share knowledge and skills from this sector with young people on the island so they can broaden their career prospects. Creative/Art Directors and other jobs that manage the multi-layered process of developing magazines can command exceptional salaries for candidates with the right experience in the UK and US—a specific mentoring and training programme is also in the pipeline to run alongside the magazine.”
