The National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) and the Central Board of Health (CBH) have stepped up a joint drive to improve sanitation in St John’s city centre.

Teams from both agencies are carrying out daily clean-ups, pressure-washing and deodorising in areas with heavy pedestrian and commercial traffic.

Officials say the effort is aimed at creating a cleaner and healthier environment for residents, businesses and cruise passengers, as visitor numbers increase during the peak tourism season.

With foot traffic and waste levels rising, crews are focusing on public bins, drains and alleyways where rubbish builds up quickly. Environmentally friendly cleaning products are being used.

The authorities are urging the public to help by disposing of waste properly and reporting illegal dumping or sanitation concerns.
