The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has apologised to customers affected by an early-morning power outage after a vehicle accident damaged infrastructure along parts of Cedar Valley and Friars Hill Road.
According to the APUA Electricity Business Unit, the disruption occurred at about 02:19 local time on the Cassada Gardens #3 Feeder.
The damaged section of the network was immediately isolated, and crews have been deployed to replace a utility pole and restore power.
Engineers continued repair work through the morning as electricity remained off in a number of northern communities.
Areas affected included Utility Drive, New Winthropes, Cedar Valley Gardens, Cedar Valley Springs, Barnes Hill, Powells, Hodges Bay, Cedar Grove, Cassada Gardens #7, Longfords and Mount Pleasant North.
APUA said it is working to restore normal service as quickly as possible and thanked customers for their patience.
