Antigua’s Old Airport Terminal Undergoes Major Renovation for Cruise Homeporting Boost
The old terminal building at VC Bird International Airport—now called Terminal B—is being renovated to support Antigua and Barbuda’s expanding cruise homeporting operations.
Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez said the facility, largely unused since Terminal A opened nearly a decade ago, is being repurposed to process passengers arriving on charter flights for the 2025-26 cruise season.
“They are working feverishly on the Old Terminal because this is where we will be moving passengers who arrive here aboard charters to begin their cruises,” he said.
Roof repairs are expected to be completed by the end of the week, with interior upgrades to follow. The renovations aim to ensure the terminal is fully operational by October.
More than 20,000 passengers began their cruises from Antigua last season via air charters.
That figure is expected to grow, as homeporting gains momentum and the island strengthens its position in the regional cruise market.
