Antiguans Ajenai Charles and Kha-Lique Harris Selected for Prestigious Caribbean STEM Programme

Two young Antiguans, Ajenai Charles and Kha-Lique Harris, are representing Antigua and Barbuda in the 2026 Student Program for Innovation in Science and Engineering (SPISE).

The five-week residential programme, organized by the Caribbean Science Foundation, brings together talented Caribbean students with strong interests and abilities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Charles and Harris were selected through a competitive process that considered academic records, CSEC results, recommendations, essays and interviews.

Participants undertake university-level studies in physics, calculus, biochemistry, robotics, computer programming and entrepreneurship while developing leadership, teamwork and communication skills.

Students also interact with representatives and STEM professionals from leading universities, including MIT, Princeton, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Waterloo and McMaster University.

Their selection places Antigua and Barbuda among the Caribbean nations represented in the programme and showcases the potential of the country’s young people in STEM.
