Antigua and Barbuda to Welcome 3rd Edition of Cultural and Educational Camp at Public Library

Antigua and Barbuda is set to welcome a four-week cultural and educational camp this August, creating an opportunity for children to remain engaged during the summer break while developing skills, exploring their creativity and preparing for the upcoming school year.

The programme will be housed at the Antigua and Barbuda Public Library and will cater to children between the ages of 4 and 16.

The initiative comes as families begin making preparations for the new academic term, with the programme placing emphasis on both back-to-school preparation and broader youth development.

Rather than focusing solely on recreation, the camp will combine educational activities with cultural and creative experiences, giving participants opportunities to learn outside of the traditional classroom setting.

Among the areas included in the programme are educational topics, music, dance, pageantry, cultural activities, field trips, community service and other interactive sessions.

The range of activities is intended to expose children to different areas of learning and creativity while encouraging them to participate, collaborate and develop their individual talents.

The cultural component will also provide an opportunity for young participants to engage with aspects of Antigua and Barbuda’s heritage and creative traditions. Through music, dance, pageantry and other cultural activities, children will be encouraged to appreciate the role culture plays in shaping identity and strengthening communities.

At the same time, the educational component is expected to support children as they transition from the summer break into the new school year. Back-to-school preparation and educational topics will form part of the programme, providing participants with structured learning experiences before they return to their respective schools.

The camp will also incorporate activities outside the classroom environment, including field trips and community service. These experiences can give young people opportunities to learn through participation, interact with their surroundings and develop a greater sense of responsibility to their communities.

For parents and guardians, the initiative provides an opportunity for children to spend the final weeks of the summer engaged in a structured programme that combines education, culture and personal development.

The camp is scheduled to begin Monday, August 10, and will continue until September 4. Activities will take place Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Parents and guardians are being encouraged to register their children on Monday, August 10, as registration and the start of the camp coincide.

The programme is open to children between 4 and 16 years old, with a non-refundable registration fee of EC$300.

The four-week initiative is known as the WORK FU UM! Summer Camp 2026 and will be housed at the Antigua and Barbuda Public Library.

With education, culture, creativity and back-to-school preparation forming the core of the programme, the initiative is expected to provide young participants with a productive and enriching experience as they prepare to return to the classroom.
