Antigua and Barbuda Scout Association Elects New Executive Committee to Lead National Revitalization

The Antigua and Barbuda Scout Association (ABSA) is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its triennial elections, held during the Annual General Meeting(AGM) on February 26, 2026, at Government House.
Under the distinguished patronage of His Excellency Sir Rodney Williams, Governor General and Chief Scout, who shared the AGM, a dynamic new Executive Committee has been elected to steer the movement for the March 2026 – February 2029 term, as follows:
· Chairman – Dr. Fitzmore Burns
· Vice-Chairmen – Ambassador Anthony Liverpool and Mr. Cordel Josiah
· National Treasurer – Ms. Lily Schofield
· National Secretary – Dr. Janil Gore-Francis
· Scout Leader Representatives – Ms. Brianna Pereira, Mr. Tarik Mussington, Mr. Kadeem Charles & Ms. Abigail Burke
· Lay Members – Mr. Norman Spencer, Mr. Joseph Prosper, Mr. Novelle Williams and Commander (ret’d.) Auden Nicholas

Elected members – alongside uniformed members (Chief Commissioner Patricia Salmon and Assistant Chief Commissioners Lt. Col. (ret’d.) Ivor J. Walker, Mr. Delano Richards, Ms. Heather Cole, Mrs. Patsy Quinland-Richards, Mr. Kibwé Harris and Ms. Denise Jarvis) and two members to be co-opted – will form the Executive Committee for the Association.
This election marks a pivotal moment for Scouting in the twin-island state. Following its historic transition in 2022 to a fully independent National Scout Organisation (NSO) within the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM), the Association is now poised for a period of unprecedented growth.
The newly elected committee is tasked with leveraging this independent status to catapult the movement into a revitalized era of youth engagement and community impact.
“This is more than just a change in leadership; it is a renewal of our promise to the youth of Antigua and Barbuda,” said the Association’s leadership.
“As a newly independent member of the global Scouting family, we have the autonomy and the energy to design programs that speak directly to the modern needs of our young people, fostering leadership, resilience, and civic pride.”
The Association’s strategic focus for the upcoming triennium includes expanding Scout groups into every parish and strengthening the quality of mentorship provided to Scouts aged 5 to 25.
To achieve this ambitious vision, the ABSA is officially inviting potential Scout Group sponsors – including corporate entities, community organizations, and faith-based groups—to partner with the movement.
Sponsorship offers a unique platform for organizations to play a direct role in:
- Mentoring: Providing positive role models for the nation’s youth.
- Skill-Building: Facilitating workshops in vocational skills, environmental stewardship, and digital literacy.
- Community Development: Supporting local projects that instill a sense of service in young citizens.
The Antigua and Barbuda Scout Association remains committed to the principle that “Scouting is a world of adventure,” and with this new, energetic executive team, that adventure is set to reach every corner of the nation.
