Antigua and Barbuda Records Highest-Ever January Tourism Arrivals

Antigua and Barbuda opened 2026 with its strongest January on record, posting historic arrivals across cruise, air and yachting sectors, according to newly released tourism data.

Cruise traffic led the surge, with 197,206 passengers visiting the destination — the highest January total ever — up from 173,266 in 2025 and well above 48,750 recorded in 2022. Air arrivals also reached a new peak at 36,052 visitors, continuing steady growth in stay-over tourism from 34,365 the previous year.
The yachting sector added to the milestone month, recording 3,633 arrivals, another January record and reinforcing the country’s position as a leading sailing destination.
Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez said the performance reflects coordinated efforts across the industry, including expanded airlift, stronger cruise partnerships and targeted marketing in key markets.
The figures highlight continued diversification within the sector, with cruise driving volume while air arrivals signal growth in higher-value visitors and yachting maintaining its niche contribution.
Officials say the record start has set a positive outlook for 2026, with a focus on sustaining growth and ensuring broader economic benefits across the country.
