Antigua and Barbuda Celebrates 100th Birthday of Elfrida “Ms. Tiny” Payne-Abbott

Antigua and Barbuda has welcomed a new centenarian with the 100th birthday of Elfrida Payne-Abbott, affectionately known as Ms. Tiny, marked on Jan. 27.
The milestone was celebrated at the Lebanon Moravian Church with family, friends and community members in attendance. Born in Seaview Farm in 1926, Payne-Abbott has witnessed a century of social and economic change, guided by a life rooted in faith, hard work and resilience.
Sir Rodney Williams attended the gathering, extending congratulations on behalf of the nation and presenting a commemorative gift.
After losing her husband in her thirties, Payne-Abbott raised four children on her own, working as a farmer, domestic worker, baker and entrepreneur. Speakers described her as a pillar of strength whose values and quiet leadership have inspired generations.

As she reached the century mark, Payne-Abbott offered simple advice to young people: work hard, trust God and stay connected to family.
