Angela Did Not Act Alone: Hispanic Community Leader Speaks Out Following Arrest

Alex Martinez, a prominent figure in Antigua’s Hispanic community, has spoken out following the recent arrest of Angela, a young woman he recalls from his community. Martinez expressed disbelief over her involvement in a serious crime and called for justice for the victim, Chantel.

Recalling Angela’s past, Martinez shared that she grew up in Ovals, near VI Rich Street. He had known her for years before she and her family left for the Dominican Republic. He had not seen her for a long time until recently, when her name surfaced in connection with a criminal case.

“I saw her picture and was shocked. I called my girlfriend and said, ‘This is Angela, what is she doing there?’” Martinez said.

He recounted a night when he and his girlfriend saw Angela walking around the neighborhood. As they often do with young people in the Hispanic community, they stopped to speak with her, encouraging her to stay on the right path by focusing on education. Martinez emphasized that she was not involved in any wrongdoing at the time, but he had not seen her again for years—until now.

While expressing sadness over Angela’s alleged involvement, Martinez made it clear that his sorrow is reserved for Chantel, the victim of the crime.

“We’re not sorry for anybody else because this was premeditated. This was not a mistake. Whoever did this has to pay for it,” he asserted.

Martinez also raised concerns about a mysterious figure who frequently appeared in photos with Angela. He questioned the identity and role of this individual, suggesting that there may be more to the story than what has been revealed.

“This is not just Angela; I don’t believe that. Somebody else is behind this. We need answers from the police. If you know something, say something,” Martinez urged.

As the investigation unfolds, Martinez reaffirmed his commitment to supporting justice and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.
