Dwayne George Pushes Back on Claims Bolans Field Is Unfit for Play

ABLP Candidate for St Mary’s South Dwayne George has rejected claims that the Bolans playing field is unfit for use, pointing to a recent football match as evidence that the facility remains operational.
In a statement shared publicly, George said the Bolans Football Club and Potters Football Club played a full match on the field “that some claimed was ‘mash up’ and unfit for play,” adding that the game proceeded without issue.
He noted that the match was held under newly installed lighting, which he credited to efforts by the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), and said both players and spectators were able to participate fully.
“Not only was the match played, but it was played under proper lighting,” George said, arguing that the event demonstrated the field’s usability despite criticism.
The senator questioned the validity of claims about the condition of the facility, stating that if the field were truly unplayable, organized football activity would not have taken place.
George maintained that visible improvements at the site reflect ongoing development, adding that “progress is visible, and the people are benefiting.”
The condition of community sporting facilities has been a point of political contention, with differing views emerging over infrastructure standards and maintenance across constituencies.
