ABHTA Holds 2026 Annual General Meeting, Reviews 2025 and Sets Priorities for Year Ahead

The Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association (ABHTA) held its 2026 Annual General Meeting on January 27 at Carlisle Bay Resort, bringing together industry stakeholders to review the past year and outline plans for the period ahead.

The meeting featured presentations from key tourism and infrastructure leaders, providing members with updates on performance trends, development initiatives and strategic priorities for Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism sector.

Colin C. James, chief executive officer of the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, shared insights on market performance, infrastructure investment and destination growth, highlighting factors shaping visitor demand and competitiveness.

Updates on airlift and passenger experience were delivered by Miguel Southwell, chief executive officer of V. C. Bird International Airport, who addressed ongoing and planned developments at the country’s main gateway.

The cruise tourism outlook was presented by Gasper P. George, general manager of Antigua Cruise Port, with a focus on enhancing guest experience while supporting sustainable growth.

ABHTA Chairman Craig Marshall delivered the chairman’s report, outlining the association’s achievements during 2025 and priorities for 2026, while Patrice Christian Simon, executive director of the ABHTA, presented the operational report, reviewing performance over the past year and detailing strategic plans moving forward.

The association said it is looking ahead to a year focused on growth, collaboration and strengthening the country’s hospitality and tourism sector through continued engagement with members and partners.
