ABEC Officials Participate in International Electoral Observation Mission in Costa Rica

The Antigua and Barbuda Electoral Commission (ABEC) has been selected to participate in an international electoral observation mission in Costa Rica.

ABEC’s delegation comprisesMember of the Commission, Mr. Clovis St. Romaine, and Assistant to the Human Resource and Training Officer, Ms. Kisher Esprit. Their participation follows an official invitation from Costa Rica to serve as observers within the framework of the Official Electoral Observation Mission under the Tikai Protocol, from January 29^th to February 2^nd 2026.

The Tikai Protocol is a cooperative framework that guides electoral observation and collaboration among electoral management bodies. It promotes transparency, impartiality, professionalism, and respect for national sovereignty in the conduct of elections.

Through the protocol, participating institutions support democratic governance by observing electoral processes, sharing technical expertise, and fostering mutual learning across jurisdictions

ABEC’s participation in this mission underscores its continued commitment to strengthening electoral integrity, enhancing professional development, and contributing to regional and international efforts that support free, fair, and credible elections.

Chairman of ABEC, His Excellency Ambassador Arthur G.B Thomas expressed that “observation missions are vital to strengthening electoral integrity.
