On this joyous occasion of Christmas, I extend warmest wishes to the people of St. Mary’s South both at home and in the Diaspora.
Christmas is a celebration of hope, love, and renewal — a reminder of the ultimate gift of salvation brought to us through the birth of Jesus Christ, as proclaimed in Isaiah 9:6:
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
May the life of Christ continue to inspire us to walk a path of kindness, compassion, and justice. His example calls on us to care for the vulnerable, uplift the weary, and offer light to those in darkness. As the Wise Men and shepherds followed the star to find their Saviour, may we also strive to follow the guiding light of goodwill, service and unity.
However, as we gather with our loved ones, let us also remember those for whom this season may bring hardship rather than joy. Many among us face struggles of poverty, illness, grief, and uncertainty. I urge each of us to extend a helping hand, offer a word of comfort, and be a source of hope wherever possible.
Let this Christmas renew our sense of community and shared responsibility. In the midst of celebration, let us be mindful of public safety and help to protect our children, cherish our elders, and honor the gift of life with care and gratitude.
On behalf of my family and the United Progressive Party, I wish you and your loved ones a Christmas filled with peace, love, and joy. May the light of this season continue to shine brightly in your hearts and homes throughout the coming year.
Blessings to all,
Hon. Kelvin Simon
